Hydronephrosis: is water on the kidneys, she has a blockage that is causing the fluid not to drain from her body properly. Fetal kidneys are suppose to be about 7 mm in size at 32 weeks. Our daughters left kidney is 17 mm and right kidney is 10 mm. So they are taking extra precaution and watching my fluid levels prior to birth.
This is a good example of what is going on if you are confused. So when she is born they are going to an ultra sound of her kidneys to see how they are functioning. Then the next 3 day they will monitor her bladder to make sure the fluid is draining. If the kidneys drain properly then we will not have to do surgery. But the scariest thing is if they do not drain by one week they could have damage done and they will do surgery to put stints in to relieve the pressure. This is so scary to think of a new born needing surgery. It just makes me panic.
So now they are monitoring my fluid weekly. This is a rare conditions in little girls. It is not very common for little girls to go through this so they are going to monitor her.
So keep us in your prayers.
