10 THINGS I MISS SINCE BECOMING A WIFE & MOM

Ok fellow mommies and wives, after the honeymoon and baby fever phase. I realized there are a few things I miss from my prior life.

1. PMSing in peace.... You know what I mean ladies! Being hormonal sucks and fricking sucks. Before marriage Derrick never had to experience my moody PMSing days why because for that whole 5 hormonal days I would hide out in my apartment alone or with my roommates. At that time in life you were not afraid of your roommate walking into your hormonal steam roll of a day. They were already synchronized with you and just as PMSing as you. Now days I have to explain babe I am sorry but  I am PMSing and not in the nicest mood you might just want to go watch tv upstairs. Poor men they have no idea the roller coaster ride we are on. FORGIVE ME PLEASE

Love you!

2. Dishes! I swear in college I probably did dishes 2 or 3 times a week at a maximum. Now days Dishes every day and not just everyday but three meals a day plus bottles and snacks. Ya'll eat alot!

3. Not stepping on legos or toys in the dark.

4. Laundry enough said we all know how much laundry there is and it never ends. I swear I do the happy dance when every piece of laundry is done and folded put away. ( unrealistic dreams)
I'm not the only one, phew!

5. CANDY! Smuggling chocolate to the closet is a new experience I do not like, I really miss just being able to eat candy if I want and not have to fear my sweet two year old will take it and run....
I always hide my candy in my bedroom lol

6. Cooking for just me I have never ever been a 3 meal kind of gal but my family eats alot all day three meals plus snacks. I do miss only cooking 1 meal a day and a few snack.
lol :).... by the time u have your 3rd or 5th child, u learn not to sweat the small stuff, & some of the big stuff. too much stress does bad things to mama.
7. TV I miss just kicking back watching my stories and relaxing, now days its DORA DORA DORA the explorer and sports.... Yes I miss just sitting down and watching a show with out my kids running crazy and spilling things if I am not paying attention. .
Should add this to it: they have to carry around a 10lb sack of potatoes in which a dirty diaper is stored, walking around a field of randomly-strewn legos and toys while barefoot.

8. CLEAN FLOORS : I love my family they are such a busy bunch of people but, I swear I sweep the floor 5 times a day I don't know what they do if they roll around in mud or sand pit but between dirt and cheerios it a never ending battle.I use to only have to mop and sweep my floor once a week. I swear they walk through swamps and have mud everywhere if not FOOD everywhere!
In 18 years my house will be clean again but I'm sure I'll miss the mess....
9. HAIR & Daily shower! I miss doing my hair, before Derrick and I would go out on a date I swear I spend at least an hour or two on my hair. I love my hair but man the attention span I lack now from being married and kids is shocking. I use to straighten my hair daily if not curling it now I am very lucky to do my hair twice a week most the time its pulled back, or in a bun. SAD right!!
Mom luxuries

10. Grocery shopping in peace: Being able to get in and out no hassle! Now days I coupon because my family eats alot alot alot of food lol! I miss being able to go to the store when I wanted to. Now its like oh is the baby tired, are they hungry. It's like planning a military mission convincing my husband to watch them for 30 minutes... which turns out for hours HAHA
Told my husband I had to run out to Target

Camping with 2 kids under the age 3 without a trailer

So this last weekend we took an adventure to go camping with the girls. It was a lot of fun but a lot of work!
Many families we saw had a camper or trailer but I am a little old fashion and I think we should tent it for the first few years. So remember to bring the mattress and playpen with lots of warm blankets and sleeping bags.

So I broke down items you will need to make the trip easier!

Guest room transformation

This room has been on my TO DO list. When we moved in a year and a half ago. This room was awful!
It had the nastiest poop brown on the walls and scary looking birds that were pink yellow and green..... It was definitely a failed attempt to replicate Pottery barn bird nursery....

Aren't those birds a gem.... ugh  it was just like this and all over the wall!

Sadly I never took a photo or I would show you lol! So last week while stressing I redid the whole room switched all the furniture and added a coat of paint.

I am not finished yet I need to reupholster the chair and add more decor to it but it's do able right now.

I still have 3 more walls but the paint totally changed the whole room! I think we will be changing out the linen for white. Currently I am working on the pallet floating head board but once this room is completely finished I will be so happy!

This is where I blog and craft so I want this room to be peaceful and calm... AND don't forget welcoming to guests!

OOTD June 10 2014

Little Kaylie Grace is wearing a super cute romper from little lass- tj Maxx
Jelly shoes from old navy size 3-6 months: $3.66

She has tiny feet
Miss Lilah Rae is wearing a cute old navy poke adot dolman shirt
With some jean capris no idea from where.

Today is such a layed back day just playing in the sand.
Enjoying the sun before the thunderstorm roles in.

Birthday Week Madness Kaylie is 1!!!

So the first 9 days of June is crazy busy for us! Derrick turned the  BIG 30 on the 6th had his best friend fly in from Washington and we all went golfing. Kaylie turned 1 on the 7th and  our Wedding anniversary is the 9th. To top it off Kaylie was having some testing done for her kidney issues so we were at Children's Primary Hospital all week. (that's a whole blog in itself )

So I felt like such a bad mommy since I was planning Lilah's 1st birthday months in advance. It was Tuesday the 2nd and I hadn't even picked a theme...  I had only 5 days to put her birthday together. Thank goodness I did the invites in advance. Oh goodness with the stress was piling! So I took a look in pintrest in the middle of the night with some help from some old friends.  Since I wasn't sleeping due to stress and all three major celebrations land in a 3 day time period I have to be very frugal. We did this whole party including her gift for only $248! WOW!

We ended up choosing a super cute theme Circus! I chose to get away from traditional circus colors (blue yellow and red) I went for something a little more girly ( teal, pink, yellow, and a touch of grey.)

We had some minor hiccups... major hiccups 20 mph winds so 30 minute prior to the party we moved it indoors. Thankfully my husband and his best friend Brian were there to rescue a party that could of been blown away!

Snack foods we went with super cute circus foods! Cotton Candy, pastel sixlets, chocolate covered popcorn, dum dum suckers, and of course lemonade.

Decor we picked up from Hobby lobby and of course the Dollar store!

This is the first store bought cake we have ever done... mind you I had like 4 hours of sleep and between driving to the hospital and getting the house ready for Uncle Brian I just didn't have time to do a home made cake. BUT if you are ever in a bind you just need to give 1 day notice to Costco fill out the cake order sheet and they create darling cakes for super cheap! Plus it was extremely tasty and feeds 48 people! A whopping price  of $17.99!!!!

Her birthday was beyond fun I was so happy with the turn out.

Kaylie loved smashing her cake until their was a mess and she was not having it!

Kaylie's outfit was so cute I bought it from one of my friends etsy shops! (SewTUTUCutebyDani)

How I did it:
I hand made everything in my zero sleep mode. Removing the bubble labels and cutting scrapbook paper to create a cute little circus labels and card stock label cards.

  • Cups, plates, napkins and plastic silver wear that was teal all from the dollar store.
  • Table cloths ( $1 dollar store bought 6.)
  • paper 1 ( hobby lobby $1.99)
  • Sixlets (5.99 hobby lobby baking section)
  • cotton candy ($1 dollar store the hello kitty bags we bought 5 bags)
  • 3 pack bubbles (1$ for 3 Dollar store)
  • 6 pieces of scrap book paper that was yellow and white striped, grey and white striped, and pink and white striped. ($.59 each Hobby lobby)
  • used regular glue sticks.
  • Two pastel napkins with pop of color from the plastic wear. (yellow pink and teal) ($3) dollar store
  • Mason jar (free) owed it
  • striped paper straws (2.99) hobby lobby
  • Happy birthday carnival sign ($3.99 hobby lobby)
  • carnival snack sign package (2.99)
  • silver bucket ($4.99 hobby lobby)
  • Cake ($17.99 costco)
  • Invitations ($30 tiny prints)
  • Streamers ($1 dollar store)
  • Super cute popcorn holders ($2.99 package of 8 used two packages hobby lobby party section)
  • Birthday outfit! ($30 SewTUTUCutebyDani)

How I made the popcorn!
I have this super cute air popper so I made three batches of popcorn and while each batch is popping I chop up 1 Hershey chocolate bar and chop it up in into tiny pieces and mix it in with a wood spoon.

One chocolate bar is perfect amount of chocolate to speckle 3 loads of popcorn. I just mix while it pops and it lightly covers the popcorn making it just PERFECT!

It is a one of the girls favorite home treats that I make for movie night. Perfect for a party on a budget.
